VOLUNTEERS

The success of the counselling service at Tom Allan owes much to the commitment, skills and time given by dedicated volunteers.  Volunteering and the Christian ethos all contribute to provide a welcoming and peaceful environment and a quality counselling service.   We have a variety of volunteering opportunities. Would you like to join us?

COUNSELLORS

  • Are required to have a diploma in counselling or have been accepted on training at diploma level.
  • Counsellors on diploma training are asked to contract for two years from the time of completing their training.
  • Are asked to give three hours of counselling per week and attend a fortnightly supervision group.
  • Are comfortable to work within the Christian ethos of the centre.
  • Are contracted to work within BACP's Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy.

RECEPTION/ADMIN

Can you spare 3-4 hours per week, morning, afternoon or evening? Duties include:

  • Greeting Clients and other visitors
  • Answering the phone, giving information about the service and taking referrals.
  • Filing, recording appointments, phoning and writing to offer appointments
  • Photocopying and other stationery tasks

CRECHE WORKERS

Can you spare 2 hours per week to help look after babies and young children? Duties include:

  • Helping the Senior Creche Worker to provide a safe, warm and stimulating environment for the babies and young children of parents attending the Perinatal Service.
  • To be aware of the needs of babies and small children and to have a sensitive approach with them and parents.
  • Help set up and organise the creche ensuring all toys, furniture and play equipment is clean and sterilised
  • Ensure all necessary documentation is completed for the child.
